I was one of those reader who dropped this manga at first. The art is way too messy and I don't like Natsu's early personality.
Later on, after reading Basara and loving it, I tried reading 7 Seeds. I definitely didn't regret the time reading this manga. While grounded, the setting for future earth are interesting enough make you anticipate new area. Every characters, even the passerby all have their own distinct characteristic and ego. Some arc are tearjerker, some are full of suspense, some are about personal growth.
Unlike most apocalypse plot that are either too altruistic or fluffy, 7 Seeds offer a more humane approach, one that show hope for it's characters even if there's many tragedy and loss along the journey.
This one is definitely on my recommendation list.
