A young boy named Yugo Hachiken aspires to live apart from his family. He enrolls in an agriculture school, one which requires its students to live in dormitories. He thinks that with his talent for studying, no problems will arise no matter what kind of school he goes to. But he is soon forced to discover the inconvenient truth about agricultural life. Enjoy the story of Hachiken as he tries to keep up with his friends, farmers' heirs who are already accustomed to a hardworking farm life.

Hands down, one of the best slice of life/coming of age/comedy manga. If the world set 1 manga for mandatory read, I would choose this one. It's the type of manga that makes people feel hopeful for the future.
Over several years I have read this manga several times and it never fail to make me chuckle and wanting to try new things. Hachiken really grow as a person and I love how the manga didn't turn into "MC is a loser then ended up as the world's no 1 something something." The relationship between characters are handled really well.
While most people would choose Fullmetal Alchemist as Hiromu Arakawa's best work, I think Silver spoon is not that far behind. So do read it when you have time
